General Admission Requirements
- Program enrollment is based on a first-come, first-served basis by date of completed application. (A completed application includes all items required for enrollment.)
- Persons seeking admission to a college must be at least 18 years of age or have a high school diploma or equivalent. For full-time programs, the applicant must declare an occupational objective and demonstrate reasonable potential for achieving that objective.
- All persons who are required to register for the Federal Draft under 50 U.S.C. App. Section 453 are not eligible to enroll in any post-secondary school until they have registered with selective service.
Program-Specific Admission Requirements
Educational and admission requirements vary from program to program.
New students enroll every month as space is available.
Requirements: The following criteria must be completed before you are given a start date, with the exception of the DMV check and drug test which you will be required to obtain 30 days before you start the class (at a designated health care facility). You must pass the drug test and DMV check. If you do not pass the drug test and DMV check you will not be able to attend the class. You must also obtain the CDL Permit prior to class.
Step 1: Must be 18 years of age & a U.S. Citizen
Step 2: Must have a valid Tennessee driver’s License
Step 3: Obtain DOT physical (Certified Medical Exam).
Step 4: Must obtain DOT Learner Permit.
Step 5: Complete TCAT Livingston’s online application at https://tcatlivingston.edu/future-students/admissions
Step 6: Apply for financial aid at https://fafsa.ed.gov
Step 7: Submit copies of DOT physical (Certified Medical Exam), DOT Learners Permit, and Tennessee driver license. At this time, you will obtain a start date. *Within 30 days of class start date: (If not submitted a week before class starts you will lose you start date)
Step 8: Student will provide Student Services with the following documents:
Copy of your Ten Year Motor Vehicle Report. You can get your MVR by visiting https://www.tn.gov/safety/driver-services/mvr.html or by going to the Driver Service Center at 4600 S Jefferson Ave, Cookeville, TN 38506.
Complete a drug screen at Quality Medical Center-15 Walker Hill Street Crossville, TN 38555. 931-484-1100 **(Must pick up paperwork from TCAT Livingston to take to location). Quality Medical Center will contact you with results and then send a copy of the results to TCAT. A random drug test may be a possibility at any time.
Both items must be submitted by deadline. Any delay in the Admissions process listed above WILL DELAY ENROLLMENT.
Cost: There is financial aid available for this program for current TN residents. Student cannot have used the TN lottery or TN reconnect grant before. If eligible, the grants may cover up to $1200 of the $1503 tuition fee. Amount covered by the grant is based on eligibility. You must complete the FAFSA to apply for state grants. Go to www.studentaid.gov to fill out FAFSA. You can also visit your local career center to see if you qualify for financial assistance. Additional out of pocket costs: DOT physical, MVR report, DOT drug test, DOT learner permit, & licensure. (est. costs: $350)

Students interested in enrolling in the Practical Nursing program must visit the receptionist to schedule the HESI entrance exam. This is a new extrance exam selected by the state. The exam cost is $47 (cash, credit or debit card accepted) and tentative schedule is below. Suggested practice tests can be found at Testpreview.com. Study books will be available at a later date.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to test time.

For entrance into the Practical Nursing program, a student must have a high school or GED/HiSET diploma. Students in the program are subject to drug testing and background screening.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. For more information on enrollment, contact the school.
Clinical affiliates of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Livingston require drug testing and background checks of each student enrolled in the Pharmacy Technology program before participating in training at clinical sites.
For entrance into the Cosmetology program, a student must have a high school or GED/HiSET diploma.
